Judge dismisses excessive force suit over Taser
A federal judge has dismissed an excessive force lawsuit against Harris County by the family of a Houston truck driver who died two days after sheriff's deputies used a Taser to subdue him.
The brother and sister of Kenneth Ray Eagleton sued the county, then-Sheriff Tommy Thomas and nine deputies who were called to help subdue the driver so he could be taken to a hospital in June 2006. Paramedics suspected Eagleton had suffered a drug overdose after finding him lying in his car, holding a knife and screaming incoherently. More...

On Jan. 18, 2005, plaintiff Ernesto Tamez, 59, a welder, was working for a turnaround contractor at BP America Inc.’s oil refinery in Texas City. Employee’s brother files wrongful death suit
HOUSTON — A brother of a longtime employee of Houston attorney John O’Quinn has filed a $7 million wrongful death lawsuit against the lawyer’s estate. O’Quinn and passenger Johnny Lee Cutliff were killed in a wreck on Oct. 29. Police said neither man was wearing a seat belt when O’Quinn lost control of his SUV, which going nearly twice the 40 mph speed limit, and hit a tree. Cutliff, 56, had worked for O’Quinn, 68, for about 30 years. The Houston Chronicle reported that James Cutliff filed the suit in November. A Loreauville mother and father suing a crib manufacturer in the death of their 7-month-old son are still "devastated" by the loss of their child, a lawyer for the couple said Friday.
Reese Morgan was found wedged between the mattress and the drop-side rail of a Stork Craft crib in May. HOUSTON - The family of a Prairie View A&M University pledge wants a fraternity to pay them $97 million. They say Donnie Wade, Jr.'s death was the result of brutal and reckless hazing by Phi Beta Sigma.
