A 56-foot tugboat named the JR Nichols sunk at approximately 10:30pm last night in the Houston Ship Channel. Four of the five individuals were pulled from the water by LyondellBasell rescue team and then were transported to a local hospital. The United States Coast Guard and the Houston Police Dive Team are currently searching the water for one crew member of the tugboat who is still missing. The tugboat is a Kinder Morgan vessel which was on its way to their facility. The cause of the accident is still unknown, but preliminary reports indicate that it may have been caught in the wake of a larger vessel. The Houston Ship Channel remains closed at this time.
