CPSC Investigating Complaints of Severe Burns, Blisters from Using Pampers Cruisers/Swaddlers Diapers – Texas Product Liability Lawyers
As Houston personal injury lawyers and parents of small children ourselves, we are obviously hugely concerned with product safety, and monitor every recall or safety issue linked to children’s products. It makes us mad to think that companies might be treating our kids as lab rats when they introduce new products. Whether it’s lead-soaked toys manufactured in China or defective cribs that quickly turn into death traps, nothing gets our goat more than companies pushing products that could harm our children into the marketplace sooner, so they can begin counting the dollars quickly.
Something like this seems to have happened over at Procter & Gamble. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is investigating a number of complaints filed by parents who claim that Procter & Gamble’s new Pampers Cruisers/Swaddlers diapers have caused their babies severe rashes. The rashes are not your typical diaper rashes, the kind you see when you’ve left a baby in a diaper for too long. These aren’t simple pink, or even, red rashes. These rashes are more like chemical burns, with painful red blisters, and cracked and peeling skin.
The agency is investigating a few complaints, but the number of parents who have noticed the rashes, is likely much more. There’s even a Facebook page called Pampers Bring Back the Old Cruisers/Swaddlers with close to 10,000 members. What this means is that a lot of parents are seeing, severe blisters and burn like rashes on their children’s bottoms after they have used the new Cruisers/Swaddlers backers.
Many believe it’s the new Dry Max technology that’s causing the rashes. The technology helps keep the diapers slim and lightweight. Procter & Gamble continues to insist that its new diapers are not the cause for the rashes. According to the company, it’s just a few disgruntled moms who prefer the older diapers, and who are now complaining about the new designs. The company is even taking potshots at the trend of using cloth diapers for babies, saying that parents, who are dead against disposable diapers, are involved in spreading rumors about blisters and burns with the new Pampers.
As Houston product liability attorneys, we don’t expect Procter & Gamble to come right out and admit that there could possibly be a problem with these new diapers. P&G has just had a hugely successful launch with the new diapers, and won’t want to burst that bubble any time soon. The company insists that the numbers of complaints that have come in, are just a small percentage of the millions of diapers that have been sold.
If you have experienced unusual rashes or extreme irritation with the new Pampers Cruisers/Swaddlers diapers, we would urge you to file a complaint with the CPSC and contact the Houston product liability attorneys at The Kahn Law Firm for assistance. The CPSC is considering all complaints, and has asked parents and caregivers to come forward with their experiences.

i almost died when i seen how bad my son was burnt! it was hard to take in! thought it was apple juice, lol, it wasnt! it was these diapers.. and i took pictures! i have proof…. terrible! did they even test these diapers before deciding to deliver them to stores for sale??? NH

Pamper’s Cruiser Diapers: These diapers DID cause a chemical burn on my grandbaby! I am very insulted that Pampers would dismiss such an issue with out speaking to me directly or viewing pictures! This is NOT a normal diaper rash!!! My grandbaby has NEVER had this reaction to anything we’ve ever put on her. We tried Pamper’s Cruiser diapers and with in the same day extreme redness occured, looking like a very bad dry sun burn! IF you’ve ever had a sunburn you know first hand it’s unpleasant. Imagine what it’s like to have one this bad on the most sensitive area of your body!!!!!! To see my 7 month old grandbaby SCREAM from pain when she tried to sit was heart breaking! To change her diaper was torture for her! When she peed she screamed! Touching the redness we felt the dried out skin and heat! We tried to give her a bath and that too caused her to scream! Needless to say, taking those diapers off of her and doctoring the burns it caused helped tremendously! For those parents that see no reaction or change in their babies, good for you. But for the baby in our family, it was an extreme nightmare! Never again will we buy Pampers! And I’m not saying this to be mean, I’m saying this because this is what I’m doing to protect my grandbaby. I had nothing against Pampers until now. We didn’t know other parents were having such problems until we investigated our own situation. We couldn’t believe Pampers, a huge name brand company would dismiss such injuries to such innocent children!!!! I suggest every single person dismissing these problems wear the Pamper’s Cruiser diapers for an entire day. That’s how long it took to sevearly burn my 7 month old grandbaby. Let’s see how comfortable they are when their private areas are burned so bad they cant sit down or take a bath!!!! It sickens me to know such a product is allowed to be sold. I can only imagine all the parents out there punishing their kid(s) because they won’t sit still & can’t stop crying! I really hope Pampers deals with this quickly and starts taking this seriously.
